I have a friend - and yes, it is a friend - who has two children, a boy aged eight and a girl aged five and she loves the girl so much it is almost suffocating. However, her behaviour towards her son is extraordinary.  She is always criticising everything that he does and shouting at him and she rarely shows him any affection at all.  Is it possible to feel so very differently about two of your own children?  Do you think she realises that she treats them so differently?  should I do or say anything?

Hello Wolfie. I was looking at older threads about children, just browsing and hoping I suppose and I wonder how your friend is getting on. Is she still preferring one to the other? Its a very difficult thing to watch I guess.

I am quite sure that my parents care more about my older sister than they do me. She is mega successful and has the right sort of partner and sees all the right sorts of people and all of that stuff. I pretend it does not hurt but it does.
