    Next year I will:

    • make every single minute of every day matter
    • eat less / move more (have to have a health one in there!)
    • call my mother more (and not be crabby when she calls me)
    • take more risks
    • send more cards (thank yous, hellos, special occasions)
    • learn a musical instrument (ha!)
    • save money (double ha!)

My resolution is to take a picture every day so that at the end of the year I have an album of a year in my life.

Thanks ChocolateCake, you are welcome to it.

I think New Years Resolutions can sometimes be very negative which is why they are doomed to failure. I decided this year I wanted a positive, fun resolution. In all honesty I think I'll probably be able to hit three or four pictures a week, but I'm going to shoot for one a day. Either way it should be interesting.

I might get a cell phone that takes pictures so I don't have to carry my camera around with me, but I'm still debating this.

I love my camera phone, because it's the one thing I know I'll always have with me! I will add in another resolution - I'm going to remember to download the pics from it regularly, so I don't lose them all when I drop the dratted thing down the toilet!

    • quit smoking
    • work more on my books
    • finish 'saints of 53rd' and send to a publisher
    • ride a roller coaster or two
    • finish my tattoos
    • become an apprentice
    • learn to love myself
    • let go

i think those are probably the most important ones. god knows i'll probably update this list when i really have time to sit and think about it. good luck to everyone. here's to hoping this year's better than the last.

    Next year I will

    QUIT SMOKING

TRY to at least make it through the wait in line to ride a roller coaster and maybe get on ONE.

Share more laughter and less tear.

I think thats a good list I am sure there is more I would like to do and in time I will.

    Lose some weight.

    Lose some more weight.

    Take more exercise.

    Lose a bit more weight.

Good luck to all who are giving up smoking. For info, the patches worked for me and I was a 20 a day man for 30+ years so I think I'm saving about £1800.00 a year, assuming fags are a fiver a packet.

My goal is NOT to lose 20 pounds, My Goal is to lose 1 pound.  When that one is gone, my next goal will be to lose another pound. I am thinking a week for the first pound, with simply cutting out the junk food, and 10 minutes additional excercise per day.

I read that cutting out one can of soda a day will net you 5 pounds a year of weight loss, assuming nothing else changes in your diet or excercise.  I researched it, and that seems plausible, as that would be about 55,000 calories for the year.

"Each 12-ounce (355-milliliter) serving of a carbonated, sweetened soft drink contains the equivalent of 10 teaspoons (49 milliliters) of sugar and 150 calories. Sweetened drinks are the largest source of added sugar in the daily diets of U.S. children."

Just a couple of thoughts... Good luck to everyone!

Everyone can do it, you just have to make the decision to do it.  It's a choice that you make. If you make the choice, it will happen!  Wanting it is not enough, you have to make the choice!

For those of you that want to quit smoking this year - can I say that I quit this year after over 20 years of the habit..... it was the best thing I have ever done.

If you are going to give it a go, all power to you and go for it.....

NYRs for me? Perhaps to slow down a little bit and take my time for me and my family....

OK, I have thought about it, and I have the following plans for the New Year.

    1. Continue my 100% vegetarian diet (been 8 months now...)

    2. Continue heading toward a fully vegan diet, currently 90% vegan.

    3. Continue my current exercises.

    4. Expand my excercise plan.

    5. Budget my time and money better.

    6. Expand the marketing of my photography business.

    7. Read something for at least 30 minutes a day.  (I have a TON of books that I need to work on finishing...)

This is the first year I have had some realistic goals, and I will be sticking with these.  I am not going to "try" to do these, I simply WILL do these.

I am not a "star wars" geek, but I once heard someone quote Yoda as saying:

"Do, or do not. There is no try."  Maybe I'll work on a brick like that!

    WOW.  Another idea!!!!

Seeker Emerald - there may only be do and no try...and yet beware of setting  yourself up ....as some people read failure as not achieving something, failure can also be read as evidence of having tried. Learning comes from the attempt and not the result???

i'm going to take my resolution from the song "new resolution" by the heartless bastards:

"my new resolution is to be
someone who does not care what anyone thinks of me
'cause I don't even like myself half the time
and what's the use in worrying what's on other people's minds?"

789 (French) - i so like your new year resolution! I will make just one - to finish the book that i wrote last year - to bind it beatifully - to walk a coastal path on a wild rough day - to cast it into the sea. Alternatively, i may just try sending it to a publisher.
