How do I believe him?

We've been friends our whole lives, together a couple of years. We lost our virginity to each other. He's stood by me throughout miscarriage, depression, and me being an absolute b*tch to him. At my lowest, he stopped me from committing suicide, and I honestly believe he saved my life.

But despite all of this, I don't believe him when he tells me that he loves me, that he wants to spend the rest of his life with me.

Hello cocktailwaitress, good to see you on The Wall. Your boyfriend sounds wonderful and he has been such a support to you in your difficult times.

I was just wondering, can you explain a bit more about why you aren't able to believe him? And perhaps even if you want to believe him?

    We are here for you.

Hi Cocktailwaitress, I am pleased you felt able to share your doubts and problem on here. You must have asked yourself a thousand times why you dont believe him. It sounds however that he needs you. Perhaps try asking yourself why on that one and you may find you have much more to offer than you think.

    Take Care

Is it something in him that causes your disbelief, or something in you?

I ask because I never used to believe people either when they said that to me (including my parents), and was rather humbled when I found out that I was denying the sensation of feeling loved because of my own convoluted psychological reasons.

If someone has lived through all of that with you then you must mean a huge amount to him. I mean does he strike you as someone who would say he loved someone when he didn't? And i suppose if he says he loves you he means all of you which by default means all that you have lived through together.
