Your brick story

I have a horrible reaction to mosquito bites. I'm pretty sure that I'm not allergic, although by the looks of my legs currently, I should probably reconsider that!

I went out last night with a coworker for some ice cream and we sat outside talking for no more than 30 minutes. The mosquitos came attacking, throwing their wonderful poison into my legs and feet.

I haven't counted exactly, but I believe I have about 12 or so. They are all itchy and killing me, I'm pretty sure about that!

Someone once told me that witch hazel works for the itchiness, so I pulled it out from the medicine cabinet and keep dabbing every hour or so. There is no calamine lotion in the house, so I've been searching for home remedies. They say that banana peels work too, but I haven't any bananas. So the next best was toothpaste - plenty of that!

So I sit here, legs propped up and laptop on lap (fingers quickly tiring from this position) ... and a blue paste all over my legs and feet. Keep your fingers crossed for fast drying!

I have never heard of toothpaste or banana skin for itchiness - I have heard of banana sap as a deterrent but then never tried it.

Okay to keep them away take a hi potency Vit B mulitvitamin - I think it is B11 or B12 - but we sweat Vit B and the mossies hate it. That will keep them away from you. I do this when I hit a malaria zone as I won't take anti malarials.

The only thing that works for me -as I am allergic to mosquitoes and sand flies is a homeopathic called apis - knocks out the itch for 24 hours - you can't take it if you are allergic to bees though. See if you can find a homeopathic supplier - the other thing that works is hay fever tablets - they generally work well.

I am still imagining a person with blue toothpaste spots - I wonder whether you will glow in the dark? UM xx

Oh it was looking pretty sad! But it wouldn't dry - stupid toothpaste and so it got all sticky on the sheets - hence the sitting position for a while. So I ended up taking it off and putting more witch hazel on. So I wasn't glowing, but my sheets surely were! Haha ...

I read that WD 40 is really good for insect bites - that is is based on fish oil - anyone know anything about that?

Someone else want to try it first, and then let me know? Not that I am a big girl's blouse, or anything like that...

Sorry you were bitten - mozzies love munching me, also.

Wanna borrow Jomo's - she doesn't use hers ALL the time?!

WD-40?? Are you sure? If I'm poisoned and suddenly turn slick quickly, you have to promise to come help me out of the situation - sliding all over the place!! At least I'm not the only person they are attracted to - Jo!!

Mebenji - tonight I walked around the house, doing the usual chores and thought I simply might - it's looking pretty bad, although it doesn't itch as much! Now they look all black and blue. So keep a look out tomorrow for some legs on the wall!

As for teeth - I'm good, but can I get some straighter ones please?? They are a bit crooked! You all make me laugh!!

    Lots of love, Inspire xx

I definitely do not support the concept of spraying WD-40 on a bite - it will get into you and goodness knows what will happen - it sounds like one of those crazy bush ideas - I remember when it was meant to "cure" cold sores! I think it is kind of a home approach to chemotherapy. Jo don't use it on your teeth either eh? UMx

Yes I think so! - Try to rub some salt and vinegar on them and see if that helps. No more WD -40 okay? except on Ethel who would really appreciate it I am sure.

Can I just eat salt and vinegar chips, instead? That would be much more pleasant I'm sure. Ethel is addicted to WD 40 - [I think she has a problem here...] and laps it up.

Watch Ethel - it would be an addictive issue I am sure - maybe try to stem the flow of WD40 and hope she doesn't get too hooked on it. Can you eat salt and vinegar chips instead - I think you would have to eat proper hot chips and add salt and vinegar - not those packets of crisps that have flavours in them!
