Your brick story

I have been trying to help a lady through her grief at the loss of her husband. I only know her through our E-mails because she lives in the Far East. Today by pure co-incidence I called her for the first time ever and she told me she'd just been diagnosed with aggressive cancer. I've suggested that she join us here.

Other than that I feel quite helpless. I will of course keep e-mailing her.

Oh BB what a good thing that you called her today. And what you plan is just so right - we are helpless in the face of other's tragegy - yet we can accompany them, let them know we are there and offer the hand of friendship. This lady would be so welcome here with us. Thank goodness she has some people like you around.

I'm most touched by your kind words, Roze. I have just had an e-mail from the lady - she's been in Chemo and says she's very ill. She's very courageous and is going to work tomorrow. She just might come here - I sent her this brick by way of a starter.

Hi guys. I have a very good friend who is going through the exact same thing, breast cancer. She's going through chemo after having a mastectomy. I guess what really helps is her knowing that emotionally I am there for her every step of the way and be strong when she needs it, give love, support en encourage her to fight.

Looks like we are on parallel lines, Isabella. I had a much brighter E-mail from XRF yesterday [the lady I'm looking after - she'll use that as her handle if she joins us]. She's still feeling lousy after the chemo but making herself go out and do things. Hers is/was breast cancer too. But as far as I know, I've never met her - she's a friend of my busy brother.

i love that you admit theres nothing you can do but listen, most people try to fix it you can't and thats okay, your human, just as she is, and just being there hu, believe me thats enough, she will feel your thoughts for her, surround her when shes feeling low, ive been there in remission now, but still was there for a time and just the kind thoughts and prayers gave me hope each day...your an angel sweetie...always me

I had an e-mail from the lady [XRF] today. She seems to be almost 100% now, just lacking stamina - she says. We must just hope that this remission is for keeps.

I feel very confused and want some help - is there anyone out there?  So much to tell but does anyone care to ask?
