Love your happy duck new avatar, Jomo. All the best in your new home. Maybe it will be where you write that first published book... of many, I hope. love sar

My new unit is very very small Sar - about 7 by 4.5 metres all up - but I love it to bits. Very quiet, right at the back, with trees behind from the garden of the house at the back - I am really content and pleased to be here - thank you.

I have books ready to publish - just can't get anyone to look at 'em! Wouldn't mind so much if they looked at 'em and then said no - but the publishers I have been looking at for the genre have all been "No unsolicited manuscripts" and I have been unable to get an agent to even reply to me... WAH!

    One of these days...

Cheers Inspire - though I was off for a bit entirely - you must have just been still feeling my vibes in your bones! We must have a connection, you think?

    Hi Jomo, Insrire
Thats a damned shame about the agents, If ony they knew what they're missing.

Do we have any waller agents by any chance?

    Inspire

I think you have books in you too. I love reading your postings because they are a joy to read - so clear and detailed.

    love to you both

Hello Jomo, how lovely to feel settled in your new home. Have you thought about self publishing on the net?

Well - no, I didn't want to try that. My sister says that - but I want a book, with a black cover and white writing on it.

Ha ha - some chance! Even big and good authors don't get to choose their covers!

But thanks for the suggestion, Ant. I just struggle with all of it, and wrote them, now I want someone else to do their bit - strange how no-one else wants to! Never mind - it'll work out.

    Love
    Jo

Hey there, Oh good'ol'jolly Jomo! & I was thinking it was Daffy duck in a flower costume/disguise - but was afraid to ask! Ethel might run me over for voicing such an idea, even though it was wrong!

Have you had your writing professionally edited? Have you thought about independent publishers/small publishers, or self-publishing options?
What about Queensland Writers' Centre? (well, they might want to make you a member - but maybe I can get info for you. I can go through my saved pdf files of their monthly magazine for people you might like to contact. (The writers' group I am with are members, even get our name mentioned!)
Brisbane Writers' Festival isn't really too far away either - some things that payments are required for do become fully booked very quickly....there might be something there you might be able to specifically attend. Won't be easy for you, I know - it is another idea.
As for me, whenever we start talking about publishing, agents, etc - sounds like Business, with a capital "B" and money is an issue if you do want manuscripts professionally appraised and edited, if you want agents, if you have to keep accounts, get into promoting your work and yourself(eeek!) It feels like a really big headache to me...I think I'd rather just dump whatever I think is good enough for public consumption, onto the Internet...if I was producing more regularly, I think I'd set up my own blog (join the millions already out there!) and dump it all there - regularly update the thing with new writing, pictures, art, (oh, if I could write music and if I felt comfortable using a microphone, there would be audio too...it feels like a bit of a pipe-dream though....but, another idea.

Happy you in Happy Home - I like it!

I used to belong to the Qld Writer's Centre - but could never afford any of their things - so gave up. I used to get their email newsletter - and I saw the thing about the professional editing, etc, but though the folk who did it were happy with the result, none of them were any closer to publishing! What the #@%&! I can't pay out money for nothing [for a start, I don't have any money much at all - very little, which I scrape by on] and bugger that, if I am any good at all as a writer, they pay me, I reckon!

Cheers, MyBenj - glad to see you here on my quack-up!

    Jo
