Your brick story

This made me chuckle. Toilet roll is so versatile - wiping my bottom, blowing my noise, something to hold in my hand and wipe away my tears of joy and sadness (Hmm a metaphor for something). Any other uses (Dont respond if you're the andrex dog!)

Mooge - I once found a roll of toilet paper in a gift shop that had the image of our then Prime Minister on every sheet - I bought it, and did give it to my big brother for a gift - he loved it above all gifts, and said that nothing before or since had given him as much satisfaction!

Goodness - I have one of Mal Fraser - is that the one you have?

A wonderful brick Mooge - clearly aussies are into toilet humour more than our English friends - we have crosswords, sudoko, and so on - but personally I find the scratch and smell rolls are a little "off". ant.x

Oh ho! I was not the only one given the toilet roll doll! It even had a little tag, hanging from its hand I remember -

    "If you run out,

    Don't shout!

    Lift me up,

    And I'll help you out!"

Do you mean to say that these terrible knitted/crocheted dolls were in loos worldwide?

I reckon they could make a Dr Who episode out of that!

    Laughing fit to burst -

You USED the paper under the doll? Cherry! My heavens, you were brave...

If we used that paper, by crikey we had to replace that roll in a hurry before the Maternal Parent visited her wrath upon us - ha ha!

Them dolls was for visitors to see [poor visitors...] and as decorations - NOT for us scabby kids to use the paper!

"Who's used the Doll Paper?" was enough to send me skedaddling out and up a tree, I tell you!

I bet those blasted dolls were hot-beds of germs and disease, I do. Sitting in the loo like Tolkien's attercop Shelob, daring anyone to pass...

Ha ha - Mooge - you do awesome bricks!

Thanks everyone - I'm glad I've managed to stimulate a covnersation about bog roll!! Gosh it's even more versatile and creative than I thought! I remember those knitted toilet cosie's as though the loo roll might get a bit chilly being left out and need some comfort like the tea pot. Did anyone experience the tracing paper loo rolls in school? awful stuff. Mooge

oooooh - you must gorn to skool in North Queeeenslaaaand, Mooge? Ha. The shiny slippery hideous bog roll that was not good for anything at all except blocking up school toilets. Who got that contract? Which rellie somewhere greased who's palm to sell all that under-grade sub-standard bog roll to schools? I sense a toilet-gate here! A loo-roll cover up!

I thought it was rejected lunch wrap! I wonder where I could get a loo doll these days - when I was small the post mistress had quite a collection - a bride and groom, a baby, a ballerina and an American Indian sticking out of a tee pee. I used to love visiting that house - the toilet was just great.

    Oh. My. Gawd.

    My imagination is exploding.

A bride and Groom - two rolls or one?

    A Ballerina, another roll.

A Native American in a Tee Pee [groan!] is another one.

    And baby makes - Five!

    Strewth.

Strike me roan, that would have been awesome.

    Awful, but awesome.

Oh dear I feel rather responsible for generating a discussion about bog roll - don't know what that means. Now i'm thinking about horrendous bathrooms to match the loo roll holders from hell. When I was a child a used to visit a relative who had a bathroom which was completely pink right down to the loo roll, soap, carpet, walls, toilet seat, light bulb (well that was read) and anything esle that was humanly possible to make in pink and have in a bathroom. It felt comforting in there! Mooge
