Hi, are you new around here? Welcome to The Wall. What was it that broke your heart?

    Love Wolfie x

"This" that broke my heart was when I poured my heart out to my ex-husband, and I told him how nice it would be to start a fire in the fireplace, sit or lay next to it with a bottle of wine, and talk...he took 4 pieces of paper, taped them together and drew a fire on them with our kids' crayons. Then propped it up in front of the TV and said "There's your fire!"

    I "died" that day...

Oh my goodness, that is awful. What a bastard and how incredibly hurtful.

How do you feel now? Is he still a part of your life?

    Love Wolfie x

It still hurts to think about it...and yes, I still cry when I do. He will always be a part of my life...we have kids together & now a grandchild...but I will never let him hurt me like that ever again!!

Good - I am pleased you have moved on and I am very pleased you found the Wall to vent on!

People do not see you the way YOU are, they see you the way THEY are. That he valued your feelings so little is a reflection of who HE is, not who YOU are. Other people do not define us, we define ourselves.

I can't even imagine being that heartless to anyone. My exwife backed into my car Saturday. It's less than a year old. I said "No big deal." What else am I going to say? Would yelling or being upset change anything? Would making her feel worse change anything? Why go through all that emotion needlessly? Of all the people in the world that like being mean to us, we shouldn't be one of them. I have learned to accept that sage advice.

I guess my thoughts are wandering now... Maybe I need to check back on "The Wall" more often!

Hopefully I have said something meaningful here. I have more to learn, and I enjoy learning from everyone esle here. I also have more to share, and I enjoy sharing it here.

    Have a great day!

You are right! And I think I've always known this...but never really put it into words. Thank you for doing that! Now, after almost 2 years without him being such a strong influence in my life, I like who I am, where I'm going, and what I'm doing. I just needed to realize that I am a decent person...and he wouldn't let me. I see him almost everyday (we work in the same office), and he now sees that I have grown past his foolishness, and am in a better place.

Hello jcmochick. I can not believe that you still see him almost every day - what remarkable strength that must take and you are right - he gets to see how stong you have become.

PS: SE - great post - such wise advice.

You both have made my day! Thanks for the kind words! JCMO, I said those exact words in a conversation about 3 months ago: "I like who I am, and where I am going." I've learned that I am pretty darn awesome. It's great to be in this place, isn't it?

And this place only gets better and better. Almost like I'm becoming "normal" again. For a long time I thought I was crazy for wanting a loving relationship...now I know I'm not the only one!
