Roze, I think this is so true when the difference is based on love. Love can be transforming in so many ways - but when someone wants to make a difference in the world and is not based on love then often the world often just gets more mixed up. - and sometimes us with it :) UMx

very wise UM - i believe love to be the strongest transformative power within our lives - and yet it is the most dangerous - perhaps that is its attraction. I have yet to see a performance review that looks at the love people bring to their work and their vision. At the same time i have seen the inability to let go of what you love - to give others space to bring their own emotional talents to the table - destroy organisations and communities too.

I wonder if that (the latter) is really love or ego?

Hm - or a bit of both?

    can love be destructive?

If it is not requited or in some way damaged it can be dangerously so in my experience. Do you feel not?

Yes I guess so - unrequited love can be such - I'm wondering about damaged love - I'll keep thinking because my first reaction is that this is love transformed to something else.

If there is still at root then it may be transfigured rather than transformed?

Transfigured or Transformed it is no longer the same - can it still be love - perhaps it can be some of the elements of love or even the habits of love. I feel like quoting that 70's thing - love is pure - love is - I don't know the rest of it.

I might be a bit soft

I hear this yet i believe transfigure - something that changes shape - is different from transform - something that changes its essential nature. One is like a chaemeleon (sp?) that changes its colour whilst not changing what it is whereas the other is like a pupa that becomes a moth.

Yes I agree that is the difference between transfiguration and transformation. But, what I am not sure of is, if love changes it's shape - it's form to something that is no longer recognisable as love ( from an external observation) then how can it still be love. A chameleon is still recognisable as a chameleon - only the colour is different. I think transfiguration is about a far more significant change. - but I am still pondering on the degrees of transfiguration of love and where it can be still recognised as love and when it might be held as love but no longer love. I think I am being extreme in the way I am looking at this.
