  Actually we did talk about it earlier today. He said he doesn't feel confident in his ability to help financially support a dog right now, which is a position I have to respect.

  I have a toy poodle - they haven't huge appetites and eat far less than a corgi - but these days our vets advise a dry diet - and rice and vegies about once a week. Vet fees are about $150 and probably I spend another $100 on non prescription stuff like ear drops and shampoos.

  I am mad about my dog and cat - they give me so much back in comparison to the cost of keeping them.. I must say so much cheaper than the medications I take for depression. Yes - you have to respect his position but maybe he see is as a greater expense than it is - and maybe not factoring in the quality of life value.

  But I am glad that you talked to him - imagine how awful it might have been had you "surprised" him!

  Hopefully not to far off you will find a set of four paws for your home. UM x
