Your work is incredible. Are the bricks on The Wall typical of your broader work i wonder? And what brought you to this place in your art?

In the Autumn of 2003 I completed a Masters Degree at a prestigious London arts institution. Approximately six months later I had what can only be described as the "Mother of all nervous breakdowns".

I left art college in the best aesthetical and physical shape of my life. However mentally and emotionally I was exhausted by academic, "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" style interminable family interference, financial, living conditions, men and my hideous Public Sector day job pressures. On 23rd May 2004 approximately one month after my 27th Birthday I crashed in dramatic and life-threatening fashion and was sectioned under the 1983 Mental Health Act. I was sent home six weeks later to recuperate. Examples of the body of work I have extracted and placed on bricks, comes from the run up and aftermath of this experience, I guess I am trying to purge myself of my situation and find a creative outlet....I hope this process can help to genuinely assist others by provoking dialogue........Sorry if the above is a tad intense generally, especially for a Sunday morning!!

Dear emilybeza, I am so pleased that you shared your experience on Big White Wall - it's good to hear that it is possible to heal after such an experience.
And intense is fine, particularly when you are releasing thoughts and feelings. Perhaps some people just aren't intense enough - and they are sometimes that ones that explode.
    Thank you for sharing.
    Love Wolfie

I have just read your reply to my question and i am sorry that i have not seen it before! I so admire how you have chosen to share your experiences through your art - both as a catharsis for self and as a stimulus to others. I had a fairly major crash this year - although not as deep as yours - yet similarly everything i was carrying in life simply became unbearable and i cracked. It is good to be here on The Wall with you. I hope you will share many other of your images on bricks. Take care, ROze

Go for it girl. Such an artistic ability must be a satisfying way to let things out and you put so much more down than the image. I try to do that in words. I have always tried to do that in words and I find it difficult. I think absolute honesty is the key, imagination the solution. Dlandea

Diandea - think you are new - welcome to Big White Wall. That is such a clever statement on honesty and imagination - you should put it on a brick!

Hi emilybeza, What an amazing image, such talent. I too find my creativity a way to work through situations and yes, to promote dialogue can only be a good thing when so much is left undiscussed and more importantly unexplored. Actually, it was seeing this image that prompted me to post a brick or two and already it feels better to be 'out in the open' so to speak. I thank you and wish you well
